When

We normally visit the opera about once a month and meet very near the performance or on the day where a knowledgeable group member gives us an introduction to the opera
Where

Various venues, locally and in town

A list of operas (live, film relays and concert performances) is circulated monthly to the group and one or two interesting performances are suggested for us all to visit. The programme is dependent on what is available. We try to mix the programme seeing screened performances of large opera companies usually at the Vue Islington; live opera at Hackney Empire or in town and at some smaller venues with less well known companies such as OperaUpClose. The music colleges also give entertaining performances from their students in training. Each outing offers a different operatic experience but it is great sharing it with people who enjoy opera and want to learn more. We try and meet up before the show at a local bar or café so that we can chat and socialize.

On occasions a member of the group will host a talk at his/her house and talk about the opera we are about to see. This is very informative and a great occasion to get together.
