Each Thursday afternoon, if there is a film showing that the group would like to see.

One of two cinemas in islington.

The Current Films group goes to either the Hackney Picturehouse or the Islington Vue. Both have several screens and a good range of films to choose from and are well served by public transport.

At the Hackney Picturehouse, there is a cafe and space to meet up for a discussion after the film. Those of us who are eligible have joined the cinema's Silver Screen Club and take advantage of the free tea or filter coffee and biscuits on offer. Membership of the Silver Screen Club is free to those over 60.

For the Islington Vue, the group goes to the Angelic pub in Liverpool Road for the post-film discussion over a cup of tea.

Members are notified each week by email to tell them whether the current film group will meet and the location and timing of the chosen film.

The group has eclectic tastes and this year has seen a wide range of films including Selma, Shaun the Sheep, The Second Best Marigold Hotel, Still Alice, Woman in Gold and Far from the Madding Crowd.
